A live action Transformers movie used to be a thing that most fans thought they would never see. Now we have had three of them and there have been some pretty spectacular scenes involving robot carnage. The first Transformers movie is definitely my favourite. There are so many jaw dropping scenes from the arrival of Blackout to the Bumblebee and Barricade chase.
One of my favourites has to be the freeway fight between Bonecrusher and Optimus Prime. In it the Autobots are racing to Mission city with the All Spark when they notice that the Decepticons are closing in on them from behind. Optimus Prime is at the back of the convoy so he takes it on himself to deal with the Deceptipunks. Bonecrusher starts to transform at speed forcing Optimus to do the same. Then Bonecrusher after busting through a bus goes straight for Optimus and they go flying off the very high Freeway. That's when we get to see Optimus tearing into Bonecrusher eventually using his energon blade to cut Bonecrushers head off.
Next up is the opening sequence of Revenge of the Fallen. The human and Autobot NEST team sneak up on a Decepticon who promptly goes beserk. The decepticon Demolishor who changes from a giant digger into a large unicycled robot goes on the rampage in Shanghaii knocking Apache helicopters out of the sky and then heading for the freeway. This is when NEST call in Optimus Prime who is dropped from an overhead jet that is circling the city. Optimus transforms in mid air then transforms again just before hitting the street. He then speeds up to head off Demolishor before transforming and jumping on him. Optimus takes Demolishor out with one blast to the head.
Then we have the forest battle in Revenge of the Fallen. Optimus and Bumblebee crash into a Decepticon hideout where Sam is being held captive. The Decepticons run off and Optimus gives chase until he is left surrounded in a forest by Starscream, Megatron and Grindor. Optimus takes a beating for a while before popping two energon blades and going beserk. He rips off Starscreams arm and kills Grindor by ripping his head apart. Just as it looks like he has won the battle Megatron sneaks up behind him and rips his chest out. A very sad day for Autobots.
In Dark of the Moon there are many fantastic set pieces. One of which takes place on a freeway. A group of Autobots are escorting Sentinel Prime back to base when three Decepticons called the Dreads show up. The ensuing mayhem is a joy to behold. Bumblebee has to transform with Sam inside him which is fantastic to watch in 3D. Sideswipe, Dino and Bumblebee work together to take out the Dreads all while travelling at high speed.
One last one. In the first movie there is a quick scene with Starscream which blew me away. The airforce calls in some raptor fighter jets to tak down Megatron but Starscream has other plans. He flys up behind the jets, transforms in mid air and shoots some of them down. Then he transforms back into a jet so that they can't identify him. An awesome scene.
