Who does not love a good car chase scene, especially when a beautiful Porsche automobile is involved? Porsches are such sleek sports cars that they add drama and visual flair to any Hollywood car chase scene. Simply put, they make it more exciting.
The 1987 movie No Man's Land, starring Charlie Sheen, features an outstanding Porsche car chase scene that still stands out today as a top car chase scene. It starts with Sheen and his co-star trying to outrun their detractors in a small, cramped parking garage. In traditional movie car chase fashion, they stylishly maneuver around parked and moving cars while dodging a steady barrage of bullets. They soon exit the garage and take to the streets, where the chase continues at the expense of the other cars on the street. After causing a huge pile-up involving a bus, they race through a dark warehouse, over some train tracks and back into the busy streets, the pursuers right on their tail the entire time.
The big finale shows them racing head-on toward a Pepsi 18-wheeler, narrowly escaping with their lives. The pursuers, though, are not so luckily. They race up a ramp and end up crashing through the Pepsi truck, falling to their demise. The smooth Sheen character, however, comes out calm and unscathed.
Another great notable Porsche car chase scene is a 1984 episode of the series Grand Theft Auto, starring William Shatner. It is not technically a movie, but it is a classic scene that deserves to be mentioned. Shatner, in a Crown Victoria police interceptor, guides the quick Porshe down a curvy, scenic mountainside road. A part that always gets a little chuckle is when Shatner's partner-an obvious Porsche fan-cringes as the Porshe makes a load noise, signaling that the driver missed a shift. All real Porsche fans know how heart-stopping that can be.
As they race through the curvy streets, the Porsche driver loses control and Shatner's partner delivers the classic line, "Oh Lord, he's losing it, trailing throttle over-steer. He's not gonna make it!" He then yells out one last "make it!" to the pursuant, praying that he spares the beautiful car. To his dismay, the car does not make it. The car busts through a wooden guard railing and goes careening off the side of the mountain in a fiery blaze, a gripping scene that breaks the hearts of Porsche lovers everywhere.
