Bring Your Favourite Mystery to Life With Warner Brother's Film, Sherlock Holmes

On December 25, 2009, Warner Bros. Pictures released the film Sherlock Holmes. It was directed by Madonna's ex Guy Richie and features Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams. The movie has been rated PG-13 because of its violence and startling images. The screen play was written by Michael Johnson, Anthony Peckham, and Guy Richie. Guy was hoping to improve on his previous gangster movie RocknRoll which took under $6m in the America. This film though is a great come back as it is a wonderful action and adventure mystery with some parts of humor.

The movie is about the latest mystery of the dynamic team of Sherlock Holmes and his partner Watson. Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective that was created by an author and physician in Scotland named Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes is famous for his logical reasoning and ability to disguise himself. He is also famous for his use of forensic science to solve difficult cases. Holmes has appeared in 56 short stories and four novels since 1887. Most of the books are narrated by Sherlock Holmes's sidekick Watson. The mystery thrillers have been popular for decades and will be for many years to come.

Sherlock Holmes has just captured a serial killer named Blackwood. When Blackwood returns from the grave to continue his killing spree, Holmes is back on the case. He has to use his keen senses to unlock one of his hardest mysteries yet. He also has to fight for the attention of his famous partner Watson, who is occupied with his new love interest and fiancé.

The producer Joel Silver called it a family movie and a Christmas treat. It is the first of Guy's films to get an R rating in the united states. Holmes's cocaine drug taking is airbrushed out of the picture as all you see him doing is drinking claret.

The movie had some great reviews. Box office magazine said "easily one of the most enjoyable action pictures in recent memory, this alternately brisk and brainy reworking of the legendary detective's mythos makes the delightful Robert Downey Jr. into a rumpled, complicated and alternately swashbuckling and pratfalling Holmes for our time."

The movie has received nine out of ten stars on average from all of its reviewers. It is considered to be one of Warner Brothers most viewed films and made over $62, 000.00 in its opening weekend. The movie grossed over $200,000.00 in the United States alone.
